if i could get my wife out of this cult i truly believe my life would feel complete. our marriage is strong and we have amazing children and i have a good carrer, but the thought that she may decide someday i am a spiritual danger is keeping me from feeling complete. nothing is certain in this world, except death. i really hate this cult

At different stages of your life, what did you lack, that deprived you of fulfillment or completeness?
by miseryloveselders ini don't believe that there is such a thing as a perfect, or an ideal situation.
ideal is the more appropriate word to use, because the word itself denotes a conception, a remote possibility, not a reality.
i'm asking you, in your lifetime, have you ever found complete fulfillment, or felt complete within yourself, and your accomplishments?

nugget: i agree, in the end they are on a mission to figure out my mindset and then thier control strategy.
lil imp: i just want them to get lost and stop intruding in my life. do you think by buying time they will eventually give up?
ten years: good advice i will attempt to use.
publishing cult: doesn't ingesting visene give you diarrea? if i have them over i will be on my best behavior and do not want them exploding in my bathroom. funny thought though.

anyway, one elder asked if he could stop by with another elder for a visit. i haven't been caught in any unholy speech or deeds so its just a sheparding call but i told him i would let him know if im up to it. the thing is i suggested to my wife that we should refuse the offer because i may just let them know how i feel. i am not afraid of them or anything they may do in fact being disfellowshipped would not bother me at all but it would devastate my wife. to my surprise she is encouraging the visit. i am pretty sure she realizes i cannot be encouraged to return to the way things were before i became selfaware so i am unsure of her motives. i understand the elders attempts to find out my weakness and correct it and i have no problems with anyone at the hall but i am heading out of the "truth" and my family knows it so why the push to meet with them? i am the kind of person who stands up for myself pretty quick and any questioning that seems to belittle or berate will be not be tolerated in my home so i can see the potential for a heavy meeting.
so what do you think, should i let them stop by?

What was your most embarassing WTF experience with a fanatical witness??
by Reality79 inwe've all known those fanatical witnesses who are guilty of pdf (public display of faith) and always have to make a big song and dance to the whole world and let everyone and their dog know they're a faithful witness of jay hoover!.
1) when my mother first came in 'da troooof' this wacky, over zealous 'sister' was studying with her - you know the type.
this woman was one of those not so subtle individuals who would always talk loud in conversation and say the name jehovah a million times even when the conversation could have been about basketball.

i was a new publisher ,age 19 working a very upscale area in newport ri and was standing at the door with a older pioneer sister and im up. the guy answers and after i blurted out my lame serman he declines but we talk a bit and he tells me hes a lawyer and dosent really believe in organized religion, blah , blah. so i start putting the book away and start wrapping it up, well the sister nxt to me was not ready to give up and tells me out loud to give him the book. he says " i dont want the book". she repeats herself to me a little louder "give him the book!" i look at her and state "he doesnt want it" "yes he does" she says "no i dont" the guy exclaims. so i looked at her and handed her the book and said " you give it to him" and walked back to the car.

Do you let others mamke you feel guilty?
by Snoozy ini was curious over my reaction to something my brother said to me the other day.. he asked me if i had accepted christ.... i am not overly relgious since leaving the jw's and am just now starting to think there may possibly be something greater than us out there.
but.... when he asked me that i felt like i had to make all kinds of excuses and apologize in a way because i don't even think about things like that and also think people that do are a little fanatic..(jmo).. then i got to thinking, why did i feel guilty when he asked me that?
how can some poeple do that?

not anymore. now i answer thier question with another.
do you accept christ? why do i have an option or has he demanded obedience from us? he never expected worship but set a pattern of principle in order to build faith in god. yes i have principles thank you.
when a question is aimed to induce guilt i never give in to the reasoning. i guess my bullsh*t meter is on

After 20 years of a troubled conscience, former J.W. woman speaks up about a horrible cover up in her cong.
by koolaid-man ini received a very disturbing e-mail this week from a former jehovah's witness who only now after 20 years wants to come forward and tell her story of a horrible child sexual molestation in her congregation.
she was told to shut up and never say a thing to anyone about what she knew.
a jehovah's witness man in her congregation was abusing his retarted daughter.
